Vrinda’s pain and the curse
When Vrinda realized the truth, her heart shattered. With tears in her eyes, she told Vishnu that the trust of a pativrata had been broken. In deep pain, she cursed Him to turn into stone. Instantly, Bhagwan Vishnu became a Shaligram.
Mata Lakshmi wept and begged for forgiveness. Seeing her sorrow, Vrinda’s heart softened. She lifted the curse, and Vishnu returned to His divine form.
The birth of Tulsi Mata
Unable to live without her husband, Vrinda placed Jalandhar’s head on her lap and gave up her life in the sacred fire.
Where her ashes fell, a fragrant plant grew. Bhagwan Vishnu appeared and declared that she would now be known as Tulsi Mata and would be worshipped in every home.
No prayer would be complete without her presence. He promised to remain with her forever as Shaligram.
